Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State soccer team completed the weekend sweep with a 2-1 victory over Upper Iowa Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Wolves improve to 6-3-1 on the season.
Wolves starting the scoring with a goal from
Teya Trujillo in the 26:18 part of the first half. A great cross by
Stephany Estrada that set up the goal. A couple of minutes later Upper Iowa received a penalty kick and Samuels put the penalty kick in the back of the net. NSU out-shot the Peacocks in the first half by a 8-3 margin.
Early in the second half Northern State created an opportunity when Estrada put a cross in the penalty box and an Upper Iowa player knocked the ball into the back of the net. Trujillo lead the Wolves with the only goal scored.
Shianne Rosselli and
Emily Reiten each tallied two shots on goal in the match. Estrada recorded two shots on goal and tallied one assist.
Jessica Otto picked up the win in net for the Wolves giving up one goal and recorded three saves.
NSU returns to the pitch next Friday at Minnesota Duluth. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. against the Bulldogs.
