Sioux Falls, S.D. – NSU soccer team dropped the final game of the road trip Sunday afternoon against University of Sioux Falls by a score of 2-1. With the loss the Wolves drop to 4-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
At about the halfway point of the first half, USF scored the first goal from about 25 yards out to take an early lead on the Wolves. Later in the first half, the Cougars scored another goal to take a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission. NSU took nine shots in the first half; three of those shots were on goal. Northern State struck back midway through the second half with a free kick from 22 yards out and
Darian Leschewski kicked it over the wall to cut the lead to 2-1.
Northern State finished the game with five shots on goal, five corner kicks, and 15 fouls. Leschewski led the team with three shots on net and one goal.
Stephany Estrada took two shots in the match and
Shianne Rosselli took four shots on the match, each recording one shot on goal.
Lexie Montoya took the loss today recorded 11 saves out of the 13 shots on goal from USF.
NSU returns to the pitch for Gypsy Days on Friday September 28 with a match-up against Winona State. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday against the Warriors.
