Marquette, MI – The Northern State swim team competed against Northern Michigan and St. Cloud State in a double dual match-up Saturday. The meet consisted of sixteen events on the day.
Northern State tallied three top-ten finishes in the 1000 freestyle,
Kalina Emaus finished in sixth place with a time of 11:35.75, right behind in seventh place was
Maida Walters with a time of 11:43.82, and in ninth place was
Jordan Metz with a time of 12:22.64.
In the 200 freestyle two Wolves picked up top-ten finishes with
Josie Gillund finished with a time of 2:04.17 and in eighth place was
Cassandra Maillet with a time of 2:04.73.
Emma Murdock picked up a ninth place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.76.
Hannah Kastigar picked up one of three race wins on the day in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.91. In fifth place was Emaus with a time of 2:19.42 and with a time of 2:33.96
Lexie Malimanek picked up a tenth place finish. Walters picked up a ninth place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.83.
Three top-ten finishes in the 100 freestyle with a Gillund with a sixth place finish and Murdock right behind her in seventh place with times of 57.44 and 57.69 respectively.
Kenna Smith also recorded a tenth place finish with a time of 1:00.55.
Kastigar picked up her second race win of the day in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.36. Also finishing in eighth, ninth, and tenth was
Ashley Dunn, Malimanek, and
Jordan Metz.
Shayna Asuncion finished in seventh place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:42.26 and in ninth place was Ziegler with a time of 2:46.65.
NSU tallied five top-ten finishes in the 500 freestyle with Walters leading the charge with a third place finish. Emaus finished in sixth place, Gillund finished in eighth place and rounding out the top ten was Maillet and Metz.
Kastigar picked up her third win the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:05.50. Asuncion, Dunn, and
Camille Kawasaki picked up top-ten finishes in the 200 IM. Freshman Murdock finished in the top five with a time of 1:03.51 in the 100 butterfly. Senior Ziegler also finished in ninth place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.19.
NSU returns to the pool next Friday night in a NSIC contest at MSU Moorhead. First event will start at 6 p.m. against the Dragons.
