Moorhead, Minn. – The No. 19 Northern State University volleyball team notched their seventh straight sweep, and third in NSIC action defeating MSU Moorhead 3-0 on the road. The Wolves downed the Dragons with set scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-16. With the win, the Wolves improve to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the league.
The Wolves hit .455 in the match with just five errors, while holding the Dragons to a .079 attack percentage defensively. Northern tallied 50 kills, 48 assists, 45 digs, and three blocks in the win. Neither team came away with an ace, however NSU nearly doubled MSUM's kill total of just 28.
Regan Dennis and
Jenna Reiff led four hitters in double figures with 12 kills each which was a career high for Dennis. Reiff was second on the team hitting .526 behind
Laura Snyder hitting .563 with ten kills. Dennis hit .478 on the evening, while
Holly Vancura was the final Wolf in double figures with 11 kills.
Morgan Baufield and
Ashley Rozell rounded out the team total with a combined five kills.
Rozell was on point for Northern racking up 40 total assists. The Wolves sophomore averaged 13.33 assists per set, marking a season high for the ace.
Jaiden Langlie added three assists followed by Snyder with two.
Langlie led the team defensively with 12 digs. Vancura and
Alyssa Deobler followed with eight and seven respectively, while Rozell and Snyder each notched six. Vancura, Baufield, Snyder, and Reiff each notched a block assist, while Rozell tallied the team's lone solo block.
The Wolves will remain on the road this Friday and Saturday against No. 9 Winona State and Upper Iowa. Northern will face off against the Warriors at 6 p.m. on Friday and the Peacocks at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
