Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State Wolves soccer team suffered their first conference loss to the University of Sioux Falls, 1-0, in overtime. NSU falls to 2-1 in NSIC play and 3-2 overall, while the Cougars improve to 2-0-1 in conference and 3-2-1 overall.
In regulation play, the two teams battled trading shots and possessions, however were unsuccessful taking the lead, forcing the game into overtime. USF's Lauren LaFavre dribbled through defenders and netted the ball for the game winning goal at the 92:38 mark.
Stephany Estrada lead the Wolves with two shots and two shots on goal.
Shianne Rosselli and
Emily Reiten each had two shots and one shot on goal, while
Alison Byrd recorded two shots. USF out-shot NSU with 22 shots and ten shots on goal to the Wolves ten shots and five shots on goal.
Justine Charles tallied eight saves in 90 minutes of play, however suffered her second loss and first league loss of the season.
The Wolves head back to Jerde Field to face the Huskies of St. Cloud State at 4 p.m. on Friday Sept. 22nd.
