Aberdeen, S.D. – In their second match-up of the season, the No. 24 Northern State Wolves volleyball team downed Minot State 3-0 with set scores of 27-25, 25-10, and 25-14. NSU improves to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in NSIC play following the win.
The Wolves got off to a slow start in the first set hitting just .208, however bounced back in the second set with a .412 mark to finish the evening hitting .276. Defensively the Wolves held the Beavers to a .080 attack percentage in the match, including a set low of -.062 in the third and final set. NSU notched 38 kills, 36 assists, 51 digs, 6.5 blocks, and four service aces in the game.
After a stellar match on Thursday against U-Mary,
Laura Snyder was back to the grind leading the team with 14 kills. Snyder hit .632 in the match with just two errors, while adding a block and a dig on defense.
Holly Vancura was second on the team with seven kills, followed by
Jenna Reiff and
Regan Dennis with five kills each.
Ashley Rozell kept the Beavers on their toes with four kills, while
Morgan Baufield rounded out the team total with three.
Rozell notched 33 assists, averaging 11.00 per set, and a team second best eight digs and four blocks.
Jaiden Langlie led the team with ten digs, followed by
Lexi Boesl with nine. Baufield notched a team leading five blocks at the net, including three to cap off the third set and the match.
The Wolves will hit the road for three games starting on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. match against MSU Moorhead. Northern will then travel to Winona State for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, and Upper Iowa for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday.
