NSU Soccer Continues NSIC Play on the Road

Aberdeen, S.D. – The NSU soccer squad will continue their NSIC play with two road games against the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs and University of Sioux Falls Cougars.  The Wolves will face the Mustangs first in Marshall on Saturday Sept. 16th at 1 p.m. and then on Sunday Sept. 17th, travel to Sioux Falls to face the Cougars. 
Earlier this week, NSU came out on top with their first conference win against the Dragons of MSU Moorhead.  The Wolves earned a team goal when a corner kick from Alexis Lewis sailed into the box and the ball bounced off a Dragon defender into the net for a MSUM own goal.  Shianne Rosselli and Emily Reiten led the Wolves with two shots and one shots on goal.  Justine Charles tallied six saves in her second shutout of the season. Alison Byrd leads the Wolves with 13 shots and six shots on goal and Charles has recorded 20 saves on the season. 

About Southwest Minnesota State
  • The Mustangs are 0-4 overall, 0-1 in NSIC conference play with a loss to USF.
  • Emily Huddleston leads the team with five shots and two shots on goal.
  • SMSU has registered nine corner kicks and 20 shots with eight shots on goal.
  • Jessica Craigmile records 13 saves on the season.
  • The Mustangs are coach by Erin Kasmarik-Mallet who is in her third season as head coach.
Last Match Up
  • After a hard battle, NSU lost in overtime 3-2.
  • Stephany Estrada netted a goal with 1:46 left in regulation play, which tied the game sending it into overtime. 
  • Stacy Cavill recorded five saves and Estrada had two shots with one goal.
About University of Sioux Falls
  • USF is 2-2 overall, 1-0 in conference play. 
  • Morgan Lovato has recorded nine shots and three shots on goal with one goals on the season.
  • Lauren Lafavre has seven shots and two shots on goal with two goals. 
  • Goal Keeper Morgan Perkins is 2-2 overall registering 25 saves this season. 
  • As a team, the Cougars records 13 corner kicks so far.
  • USF is coach by Brittany Domino, who is in her third season as head coach. 
Last Match Up
  • The Wolves was victorious defeating USF 1-0.
  • Sydney Shintaffer scored the winning goal at the 72:54 mark to aid NSU in the win.
  • Shintaffer had three shots and one shot on goal and Byrd registered three shots and two shots on goal. 
  • NSU out shot the Cougars 23-17 with five shots on goal and recorded nine corner kicks to USF's four.
