Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University Director of Athletics, Josh Moon, announced Thursday that Carrels and Bain Family Dental Care of Aberdeen and Eureka will become the Official Team Dentist of Wolves Athletics beginning in 2017.
 
"We are very excited to partner with Carrels and Bain Family Dental Care to be our Official Team Dentists," noted Moon. "Both Dr. Carrels and Dr. Bain have excellent reputations in this region and we are proud that many of our coaches and staff have entrusted their family dental care needs to Carrels and Bain Family Dental Care. This long-term partnership will enhance the services available to our student-athletes and provide a clear choice for Wolves Athletics dentistry needs."
 
The partnership will improve the level of care available to NSU student-athletes including: efficiency in the handling of emergency dental issues, development of custom mouth guards for select student-athletes, and direct communication with the NSU Athletic Training staff for specific student-athlete needs.

Dr. John Carrels, D.D.S. Dr. John Carrels is a second generation dentist, an Aberdeen native, and he and his wife have three children. He has practiced dentistry in Aberdeen since graduating from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1989. His father, Dr. Donald Carrels, started a dental practice in Aberdeen in 1951. Dr. John Carrels is committed to providing his patients with excellent dental care. He regularly attends advanced dental education programs and classes, continuing to build his knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Mark Bain, D.D.S. Dr. Mark Bain and his wife Caroline have four children and are both Aberdeen natives and graduates of Aberdeen Roncalli High School. Dr. Bain received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in 2002. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2006 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency with the United States Air Force in 2007.   Dr. Bain returned home in 2009 to join the practice after completion of his service obligation in the United States Air Force as a general dentist. He held the rank of Captain and his assignments included time at Offutt AFB, NE and Whiteman AFB, MO.
