Tucson, Ariz. – In the opening game of the 2017 season, the Northern State University baseball team fell to Concordia-St. Paul 10-0 in seven innings of action. The Wolves dropped to 0-1 on the year, following the non-conference contest.
The Wolves tallied two team hits in the game, off the bats of
Ben Allen and
Tyler Gripentrog.
Nick Hoffard started the game on the mound for the Wolves throwing 3.2 innings.
Thomas Sertic,
Andrew Nichols, and
Colton Landreth entered in relief.
Northern struggled on defense giving up three errors and nine hits in the loss. Offensively the Wolves left two runners on base and suffered six strikeouts. The win marks the third of the season for the Golden Bears, as they opened 2017 with games from US Bank Stadium.
The Wolves will return to the diamond tomorrow at 4 p.m. versus St. Cloud State in another non-conference outing.
