No.7 Wolves Take Down Minnesota State in Three Sets

Mankato, Minn. – The No. 7 Northern State University volleyball team bounced back after a tough loss to No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul last night, defeating Minnesota State in straight sets. The Wolves improve to 22-4 overall and 15-3 in the NSIC following their final road game of the 2017 regular season.
 
The Wolves downed the Mavericks with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-18. Northern hit .314 in the win, adding 44 kills, 39 assists, 54 digs, four aces, and three blocks. Defensively they held the Mavericks to a .195 attack percentage, forcing 15 attack errors.
 
Jenna Reiff led the Northern State offense as the lone Wolf with double-digit kills notching 12 in the win. Reiff hit a team second best .360, while adding one block. Laura Snyder, Hailey Busch, and Morgan Baufield each tallied a team second best eight kills, while Snyder hitting a team leading .500. Snyder was perfect on offense with eight kills in 16 swings and no errors. Holly Vancura rounded out the team total with six kills, followed by Ashley Rozell with two.
 
Rozell paced the Wolves offense, averaging just over 11 assists per set with 34 in the match. She also led the team with two aces, and added three digs. Vancura led three Wolves with double-digit digs, notching 14 in the win. She was followed by Busch with 12 and libero Jaiden Langlie with 11. Lexi Boesl added eight digs, playing the back row for Snyder. Vancura and Snyder tallied the team's two solo blocks, while Reiff and Vancura teamed up for an assisted block.
 
Northern returns home next weekend for a pair of matches against Upper Iowa and Winona State. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday versus the Peacocks and 2 p.m. on Saturday versus the Warriors from Wachs Arena.
