Volleyball Records Fifth Top-25 Victory, Defeating #4 Minnesota Duluth

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 9 Northern State University volleyball team swept No. 4 Minnesota Duluth on Saturday afternoon from Wachs Arena. The Wolves tallied their 14th sweep of the season, improving to 20-3 overall and 13-2 in the NSIC. With the win, NSU also moves ahead of UMD in the league standings sitting tied for second with Southwest Minnesota State.
 
The Bulldogs battled throughout, however Northern took down Duluth with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 27-25. Duluth battled in the third set, tying things at 18-all. Through the final 16 played points, the score tied on seven occasions. The Wolves rallied to re-gain the lead and ultimately the set three victory.
 
NSU hit .205 in the match, including a set high .298 in the second. The Wolves tallied 38 kills, 34 assists, 52 digs, three aces, and eight blocks. Defensively they forced 27 Bulldog hitting errors, as Duluth hit a season low .118 in the match.
 
Hailey Busch led the team with 15 kills, hitting .273 through 44 swings. She added a team third best nine digs, and notched two blocks and one ace. Holly Vancura and Laura Snyder followed with nine and seven kills respectively. Snyder hit a team leading .368 with seven kills and no errors in 19 attacks. Jenna Reiff notched three kills, while Morgan Baufield and Ashley Rozell each tallied two.
 
Rozell dished out 32 total assists, averaging 10.67 per set. The sophomore added seven digs and three blocks in the win. Jaiden Langlie led the Northern defense with 15 digs, averaging 5.00 per set, while Vancura followed with 12 of her own. Baufield was a beast at the net, with five total blocks on the afternoon.
 
Northern returns to on Tuesday versus MSU Moorhead from Wachs Arena. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. between the two teams, with Northern hosting the 'Trick or Treat with the Wolves' event. For more information click HERE.
