Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball team defeat St. Cloud State on Friday evening from Wachs Arena, 3-0. The Wolves improve to 19-3 overall and 12-2 in the NSIC following the win.
Northern downed St. Cloud with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-17. The Wolves hit a match leading .388, while adding 45 kills, 40 assists, 53 digs, four blocks, and two aces. Defensively they held the Huskies to a .142 attack percentage with 30 kills and 29 assists.
Jenna Reiff was a force for the Wolves leading the team with 15 kills. The sophomore did not suffer an attack error, hitting a team leading .789 as well. Freshman
Laura Snyder followed with a team second best ten kills, while hitting at a .529 clip.
Hailey Busch added nine kills, while
Holly Vancura and
Morgan Baufield tallied five and four respectively. Baufield also went errorless, hitting .667 in the win.
Ashley Rozell tallied 34 assists, averaging 11.33 per set, and dug a team leading 15 balls, averaging 5.00 digs per set. The sophomore added two kills, one ace, and one block for the Wolves.
Jaiden Langlie was second on the team defensively with 12 digs, while Snyder notched eight. Snyder proved herself useful in multiple areas, recording four assists and two blocks as well.
Northern returns to Wachs Arena tomorrow afternoon for a 2 p.m. match with the No. 4 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. The game will also be featured as the Wolves 'pink match' for the 2017 season.
