Crookston, Minn. – The Northern State University volleyball team completed the weekend sweep with a 3-0 victory over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday. The No. 11 Wolves improve to 18-3 overall and 11-2 in the NSIC following the win.
Northern took down Crookston with set scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 25-15. The Wolves tallied 50 kills and hit .346 in the match, while adding 43 digs, 50 assists, seven blocks, and five service aces. Defensively they held the Golden Eagles to a .177 attack percentage and just 32 kills.
Hailey Busch led the Northern State offense with 18 digs and a .395 attack percentage. The junior added nine digs, one service ace, and one block.
Holly Vancura was second on the team with ten kills and a .364 attack percentage. Vancura was also second on the team defensively with ten digs.
Jenna Reiff followed with eight kills, while
Laura Snyder and
Morgan Baufield notched seven and six kills each. Baufield was second on the team hitting .385.
Ashley Rozell added 49 assists to her season total, averaging a season high 16.33 per set.
Jaiden Langlie led the defense with 11 digs, while Snyder and Rozell notched five each. Reiff and Snyder were a force at the net, with five and four blocks a piece.
Lexi Boesl rounded out the team dig total with three in the win.
With seven games remaining in the NSIC regular season the Wolves sit fourth overall in the league, behind Southwest Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul, and Minnesota Duluth. They are also three games up on the fifth ranked Upper Iowa Peacocks.
The Wolves return home next Friday and Saturday for two matches against St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday against the Huskies, and 2 p.m. on Saturday versus the No. 5 Bulldogs.
