Moorhead, Minn. – The Northern State University wrestling team fell to MSU Moorhead 23-15 on Friday evening. The Wolves dropped to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in duals this season. Four Wolves tallied match victories in the dual.
Senior
Tyler Stenberg notched the first win of the evening defeating Dylan Connell in an 8-1 decision. Stenberg notched three takedowns, one escape, and one point of riding time in the match.
Ben Fichter notched his first conference victory of the season, defeating Brayden Kuntz in a 15-3 major decision at 165-pounds. Fichter tallied two reversals, two takedowns, and six nearfall points in the win.
David Murphy kept the wins rolling for the Wolves at 184-pounds. Murphy defeated Logan Rhode with a score of 5-3, notching a takedown in the first overtime period.
Joe Gomez tallied the team's final victory of the evening, defeating Cody Anderson with a 20-4 technical fall at the 7-minute mark. Gomez recorded six takedowns, one reversal, and four nearfall points in his first technical fall victory of the season.
Northern will remain on the road next Tuesday with a 7 p.m. match-up at Dickinson State University.
