St. Cloud, Minn. – The Northern State University soccer was handed their second loss of the 2016 season tonight, falling to the St. Cloud State University Huskies 2-1 on the road. With the loss, the Wolves drop to 4-2-0 on the year and 2-2-0 in the NSIC, while the Huskies improve to 3-2-2 overall and 3-0-2 in league play.
 
SCSU was first to notch a point in the 23^rd minute of the match, as Maria Kass tallied her third goal of the season by beating Northern State goalkeeper, Stacey Cavill, to the lower right corner of the net.  Both Kelli Santo Paulo and Monica Majeski recorded assists on the goal.
 
The Huskies maintained the 1-0 lead through the entire first half, however the Wolves came out with momentum in the second half. At 46:53, junior Alison Byrd connected with Anna Bondy who found the net to tie the match 1-1.
 
Just seven minutes later, Maria Kass and Brooke Bares responded to NSU by teaming up on a give and go for the final goal of the match. Bares struck the ball into the left side of the net to seal the victory for SCSU.
 
The Wolves were outshot in the match for the first time in the season, as they had eight total shots to St. Cloud State's 11. All three of the Northern State's shots on goal came from Anna Bondy. The senior tallied the only NSU goal, marking her 11^th of the season.
 
In the net for the Wolves, Stacey Cavill recorded six saves in 90 minutes of action.
 
Northern State will return home to Jerde Field at 1 p.m. on Sunday to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth for the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer game.
