Wolves and Warriors Face-Off Saturday from the Pentagon

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University men's basketball team is set to take on Winona State University in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. The Wolves and Warriors will tip-off from the Sanford Pentagon at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Fans can visit the above Ticketmaster and Tournament webpage links for game information. The game will be broadcast live over the NSIC stretch portal, while all semifinal and final games will be air on Midco Sports Networks as well. Fans looking to attend Saturday's game are also reminded that tickets will sell quick, as Augustana and Sioux Falls face off in the opening game of the evening session. 

The Wolves are coming off a four game win streak to finish up the NSIC regular season, and an 82-80 victory over SMSU in the opening round of the tournament. Skye Warwick is leading the team averaging 15.0 points per game, closely followed by Darin Peterka with a 14.0 mark. Carter Evans sits atop the team averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and is shooting a team leading 62.1% from the floor. Darin Peterka has tallied a team leading 127 assists this season, with a season high 12 versus Bemidji State. Northern is shooting 49.2% from the floor, 42.0% from the arc, and 68.4% from the foul line in 29 games this season. Head coach Paul Sather is nearing 200 career wins, as he currently sits with 198 in 11 seasons. Warwick also continues to climb to NSU all-time scorers list, sitting 24th currently with 1,254 points in his career and 435 this season.Skye Warwick and Darin Peterka were named to the All-NSIC second team on Thursday and will lead the Wolves in their first round game against the Warriors. 

About the Warriors
    • Winona State enters the quarterfinal round after a 94-75 victory over Minot State on Wednesday. 
    • Kyle Bauman led the team with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Isaiah Gray notched 21 points off the bench. 
    • The Warriors are 5-2 in the month of February with their losses coming to Concordia-St. Paul and Augustana. 
    • Bauman is leading the team this season averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. 
    • WSU is shooting 46.3% from the floor, 37.3% from the arc, and 74.9% from the foul line in 27 games played. 
    • Winona State is led by head coach Todd Eisner in his first season with the program. Eisner had a career record of 416-166 entering the year, with 17 years of coaching experience. 

Last Match-Up
     • The Wolves defeated the Warriors, 68-64 earlier this season. 
    • Skye Warwick led the team with 19 points in the victory. The senior also scored his 1,000th career point in the game.
    • Northern shot just 39.6% from the floor, while Winona State shot 42.9%.
