Duluth, Minn.- The Northern State women's basketball team collected their second straight road victory tonight defeating the University of Minnesota Duluth 82-64. The Wolves are now 19-6 on the year and 15-5 in conference action, while the Bulldogs drop to 6-17 overall and 6-14 in the NSIC.
Following tip-off, Northern State and Minnesota Duluth battled in the first quarter, drawing a 19-19 tie after 10 minutes of play. NSU managed to pull away in the next three quarters, as they had control of their largest lead of 31 points with just over four minutes remaining in the match-up.
NSU had 14 different players make an appearance against the Bulldogs, shooting 57.9 percent from field goal range and an impressive 66.7 percent from beyond the three-point arch as a team. The Wolves outshot the Bulldogs in each category, as well as rebounded them, grabbing 42 boards to UMD's 14 total.
Senior
Lauren Deadrick led Northern State with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds.
Jill Conrad contributed to the offense knocking in 6-8 from the floor and collecting 15 total points.
Miranda Ristau led the Wolves off the bench, nabbing 12 points and pulling down five rebounds. NSU worked the ball offensively tallying 22 team assists, headed by
Devon Brecke with seven total.
Minnesota Duluth guards Emma Boehn and Taylor Dillinger led the way for the Bulldogs with 11 points on the night. Allyson Harris followed with 10 points and a team-high three assists. UMD held on by lifting six steals and forcing 13 NSU turnovers for 20 total points.
Northern State will return home to Wachs Arena next Friday to face the University of Minnesota Crookston at 6 p.m. and host Senior Night against Bemidji State at 4 p.m. on Saturday for their final regular season home stand.
