Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team nabbed their second-straight NSIC victory of the year tonight versus the University of Mary. In the 59-38 win, NSU improves to 6-1 in the 2016-17 season and 2-1 in conference play, while the Marauders fall to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC.
The Wolves opened the contest by posting a score of 13-2, however U-Mary answered back on an 8-0 run to close out the first quarter with a score of 13-10. The two teams entered half time with Northern State holding a five-point advantage.
U-Mary tallied nine points in each of the last two quarters, but it was not enough as the Wolves exploded for 34 second half points. As a unit, NSU shot 39.0 percent from the floor, 26.7 percent from three point range and 81.8 from the foul line.
The Wolves recorded 41 rebounds, 17 assists and 18 points off turnovers against the Marauders. Defensively, Northern State lifted 11 team steal and held U-Mary to a three-point shooting percentage of 11.1.
Three starters tallied double-digit points in the game for NSU.
Jill Conrad led the offense in points for the second-consecutive night with 14, also notching six rebounds and two steals. Senior
Paige Waytashek matched her season-high 13 points, picking up seven assists on the night.
Gabby Laimer was the final Wolf in double-digits, finishing the match with 11.

Brianna Kusler led the Wolves with three steals, while junior
Miranda Ristau had a team-high nine rebounds.
Northern State will return to action next weekend to face Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston on the road. Tip-off against the Beavers will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and continue against the Golden Eagles at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
