Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 14 Northern State University volleyball team fell to No. 4 Southwest Minnesota State 3-0 from Wachs Arena on Friday night. The Wolves drop to 16-9 overall and 9-8 in league action with three games remaining in the regular season.
Northern struggled to get this going in the first set, falling 25-16, however picked things up in the second forcing the set to extra points. The Wolves ultimately fell 26-24 and went on to drop the third set 25-19. Northern hit .149 with 31 kills, 31 assists, 52 digs, three service aces, and four blocks.
Holly Vancura,
Kellie Schmit, and
Jenna Reiff led the team with eight kills each, while Reiff hit a team leading .269 from the hitters.
Ashley Rozell added two kills and hit .667, while
Tori Biach and
Lexi Lockhart rounded out the team total with three and two respectively. Rozell notched 29 assist and tallied one of the team's three service aces.
Libero
Jaiden Langlie led the team on defense with 15 digs in the match. Vancura was close behind with nine, while Biach notched six. Lockhart led the team with two blocks in the match as well.
Northern will return to action tomorrow versus Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. from Wachs Arena. The NSU seniors will be honored prior to the match against the Cougars. Fans with a valid football ticket will be admitted free to the contest.
