D2Wrestle.com released Thursday their 2016 preseason regional rankings. In Super Region II the Northern State University Wolves were picked seventh, while four student-athletes also received individual rankings. Sitting atop the region as a team was NSIC opponent St. Cloud State.
 
Tyler Stenberg sittings third at 149 pounds heading into the 2016-17 season. The Wolves senior just missed the national tournament in 2015-16 falling in the true fourth match. Blake Perryman was also another Wolf unable to make it out of the true fourth match a season ago. He enters the year ranked fourth at 157 pounds.
 
After a year plagued with injury, Sean Havlovic returns to the match with a No. 6 ranking at 165 pounds. Senior All-American and 2016 NCAA National Runner-up Joe Gomez sits atop the 197 pound weight class heading into the year.
 
D2Wrestle.com will also release the 2016-17 preseason national rankings this Friday.
