Fayette, Iowa – The Northern State University soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory on the road this morning against the University of Upper Iowa. With the win, the Wolves improve to 7-7 overall and 5-7 in the NSIC, while the Peacocks fall to 7-7 overall and 6-6 in league play.

NSU found an offensive spark early in the match. In the seventh minute of action, Anna Bondy connected with Darian Leschewski for the first goal of the game. Leschewski scored her seventh goal of the season to give the Wolves a 1-0 advantage.

Northern State maintained the one goal lead until the 79^th minute when Shianne Rosselli found Anna Bondy near the net. Bondy struck the ball past UIU goalkeeper, Caila Petrie, to seal the 2-0 victory for the Wolves.

Upper Iowa was outscored by Northern State 17-14 in the match. The Wolves were on target with 11 shots on goal to the Peacocks' six total. Anna Bondy led the NSU attack with four shots, three shots on goal, one assist and one goal. Darian Leschewski also aided the offense with seven shots, five shots on goal and one goal.

Stacey Cavill recorded Northern State's fourth shutout of the 2016 season, with six saves in the net against the Peacocks.

The Wolves will continue road action tomorrow against the Winona State Warriors. Kick-off will take place at 1 p.m.
