Wolves Fall to No. 1 Minnesota Duluth on the Road

Duluth, Minn. – The Northern State University volleyball team fell to No. 1 Minnesota Duluth 3-0 on the road. The Wolves drop to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in league action, as the Bulldogs remain undefeated on the season.
 
Northern held with Duluth in the first two sets, falling 25-23 and 25-20, however dropped the third set by a larger margin of 25-15. NSU tallied 34 kills and hit .139 in the match, while UMD notched 50 kills and hit .351.
 
Kellie Schmit led the team with nine kills in the game, while Jenna Reiff hit a team leading .333 and was the only hitter above .300. Tori Biach was second on the team with seven kills, while Holly Vancura, Lauren McCafferty and Reiff each notched six kills. Ashley Rozell added 34 assists, bringing her season total to 764 in 2016.
 
Jaiden Langlie led the Northern defense and the match with 18 digs. The Wolves libero averaged six digs per set in the game. Amanda Tobin and Vancura followed with nine digs each. Biach led the team with two blocks, while Rozell and Reiff each tallied one.
 
Northern will remain on the road tomorrow as they face the Huskies St. Cloud State at 4 p.m. from St. Cloud.
