Aberdeen, S.D. – A 12 points lead at half-time was not enough, as the Northern State University men's basketball team fell to Bemidji State on a final second game win shot, 89-90. The Wolves drop to 11-8 overall and 7-6 in league action, as the Beavers snapped a four game NSU win streak.
Carter Evans led the team with a career high 24 points. Evans added four rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals, and shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the field.
DJ Pollard and
Mack Arvidson each tallied 15 points. Also scoring in double digits were starters
Skye Warwick with 14 and
Bo Fries with ten.
The Wolves led 45-37 at the half, however gave up 53 Bemidji State points in the final 20 minutes of play. The Beavers shot an impressive 70.4 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent from the arc in the second half. Northern shot 56.7 percent from the floor in the game, however struggled from the foul line making 8-of-13.
Northern tallied 17 points off 15 Bemidji State turnovers, and 18 points off ten offensive rebounds, however they were unable to hold of the Beaver bench which notched 31 in the game.
Darin Peterka led the Wolves with six rebounds and a career high 12 assists. Peterka added seven points and one steal in the game.
Bo Fries was also solid on the boards, with a team second best of five. Fries notched two asses and one steal.
Michael Schreiber added four points off the bench for the Wolves.
Up next for the Wolves is a 6 p.m. match-up with the Golden Eagles of Minnesota Crookston tomorrow. Northern will look to bounce back in North Division play as they take on UMC.
