Live VideoAberdeen, S.D. – Wrestling welcomes a pair of nationally ranked NSIC opponents to town this Friday and Saturday. The Wolves first match-up with the No. 8 Peacocks at 7 p.m. on Friday. NSU will then return to the match for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday versus the defending National Champs, No. 2 St. Cloud State.
Northern is coming off a 1-3 weekend at the UNK Midwest Duals. The Wolves came away with a 25-14 victory over No. 20 Colorado Pueblo and wrestled tough throughout the four match day.
Tyler Stenberg led NSU at 149 pounds going a perfect 4-0 on the day. Close behind was
Sean Havlovic and
Joe Gomez each with a 3-1 record.
Matt Bettencourt wrestled his first matches of the season for the Wolves at 141 pounds. Bettencourt finished the day 2-2, with a key victory versus Pueblo. Heading into the weekend the Wolves tallied three wrestlers ranked in the top five of the league: No. 3
Tyler Stenberg (149), No. 3
Sean Havlovic (165), and No. 1
Joe Gomez (197). Gomez also ranks No. 7 in the nation at 197 pounds.
About No. 8 Upper Iowa- The Peacocks enter the weekend 10-1 in duals this season, and a perfect 3-0 in the league
