Wolves Continue Mid-Season Action On The Road

– The Northern State women's basketball team will travel to Minnesota this upcoming weekend to face the Bemidji State Beavers and the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles for their 13th and 14th NSIC match-ups of the season. The Wolves have compiled an overall record of 13-4 and a conference record of 9-3 in the mid-season. The team finds themselves in a three-way tie at the top of the North Division with Minnesota State-Moorhead and Minnesota Crookston. Winona State currently leads the NSIC with a record of 10-2.

The Wolves are coming off a weekend split from home with an 84-64 victory over Southwest State and their first loss from Wachs Arena against USF, 62-85. Through mid-season action, NSU is shooting 42.4% from the floor, 29.4% from three-point range, and 73.1% from the foul line this season. Three starters are in double-digit scoring with sophomore Jill Conrad leading the way with a 12.9 points per game average, followed by Devon Brecke with 11.3 and Lauren Deadrick with 10.2.

Northern State sits on top of the NSIC in scoring defense, holding their opponents to 59.1 points per match. Senior Lauren Deadrick remains second in the conference with 9.1 rebounds per game, while sophomore Jill Conrad contends in the top four with a 53.3 field goal percentage.
The Wolves will tip-off against Bemidji State at 6 p.m. on Friday night and follow-up versus Minnesota Crookston at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.  

About Bemidji State University
• Bemidji State enters the weekend 6-10 overall and 2-10 in the conference, after falling to
Minnesota State and Concordia- St. Paul on the road in their last two contests.
• The Beavers are led by head coach Chelsea DeVille in her first season with the program. She came to BSU after six years as an assistant coach for USF.
• Aimee Pelzer is leading the team averaging 14.4 and 5.6 rebounds per game.
• BSU is shooting 37.9% from the floor, 34.5% from 3-point range, and 70.6% from the foul line this season.
 
Last Match-Up
• Northern State defeated Bemidji State in both NSIC match-up, 72-44 in the first contest and
78-54 in the second.
Paige Waytashek led the NSU returners with six points and four assists.
 
About the University of Minnesota Crookston
 
• Minnesota-Crookston enters the weekend 12-4 overall and 9-3 in league action after a loss last weekend to Concordia-St. Paul and a victory over Minnesota State.
• The Golden Eagles are shooting 42.8% from the floor, 43.6% from 3-poitn range, and
74.8% from the free-throw line this season.
• Katrina Nordick is leading the team averaging 17.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
• UMC is led by head coach Mike Roysland in his 10th season with the program. Roysland has seen seven players earn 12 all-conference awards.
 
Last Match-Up
• NSU defeated UMC in both match-ups, 66-42 in the first contest and 68-52 in the second.
Paige Waytashek recorded five points, while Devon Brecke followed with four total points for the Wolves.
• Northern outshot the Golden Eagles 43.1% to 31.7% from the floor.
