Listen LiveAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team will travel to Wayne State this Saturday for week three of NSIC action. The Wolves and the Wildcats will kick off at 6 p.m. from Memorial Stadium in Wayne.
The Wolves enter the weekend 0-2 on the year with losses to Upper Iowa University and No. 1 Minnesota State Mankato.
Kyle Lavand moved into the full-time starting role a week ago, running the offense in the Wolves match-up with the Mavericks. Lavand tallied 18 completions, 156 yards passing, and one touchdown.
Devin Olson led the NSU defense for the second week straight with 7.5 tackles and 0.5 tackle for a loss. Northern kept their penalty total down in week two and will look to keep that standard this weekend versus the Wildcats.
About the Wildcats• Wayne State is led by head coach Dan McLaughlin in his 11th season with the program, where he has tallied a career record of 59-53.
• The Wildcats enter the game 1-1 on the year with a victory over Crookston.
• The WSC rushing game is led by Ryan Ludlow with 184 yards this season and one touchdown. He is one of three Wildcats above 100 yards rushing this season.
• Marcel Dunson leads the team with nine receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 68.5 yards per game.
• Northern is 14-8 all-time versus the Wildcats.
A Season Ago• The Wolves went 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the NSIC North Division in 2014. The Wildcats were 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the NSIC South a season ago.
Last Match-Up• Northern took the 2013 contest with the Wildcats, 29-27 in triple over-time.

#NSICFB: What's Trending in the NSIC• Three NSIC teams are ranked in the recent NFCA Top-25 poll: Minnesota State (1), Minnesota Duluth (7), and Sioux Falls (12). Augustana is receiving votes.
• AJ Page (SMSU), Charlie Hayes (AUGIE), and Carter McCauley (WSU) were named the NSIC Players of the Week.
• Winona State defeated Minot State 38-7 in week 2 of NSIC action.
