Moorhead, Minn.- The Northern State University soccer team opened the 2015 NSIC season with a one goal loss to MSU Moorhead. Northern is now 2-2 over and 0-1 in conference play, while the Dragons improve to 1-2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.
 
NSU fought hard on defense, keeping the game tied 0-0 throughout most of the match. Goalkeeper, Brittany Tietz, made her first appearance of the season for the Wolves, recording seven saves in her 70 minutes of play. Stacey Cavill entered for the Wolves and gave up the lone score of the game to MSUM junior forward, Sienna Rebollozo. The Wolves were unable to answer back in the remaining minutes of play, however had opportunities throughout the game. 
 
Northern connected with an impressive 26 shots total to Moorhead's 16 in the game. Allie Macdonald led the team with seven shots, four of which on frame, and Darian Leschewski followed with four shots and two shots on goal. Nine Wolves tallied shots in the loss, with seven players recording shots on goal. Tietz fought off the Dragon attack throughout the match, tallying seven saves, while Cavill added one in her 20 minutes of action. 
 
The Wolves continue with a pair of NSIC road games next weekend, facing off against St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. NSU will return home to Jerde Field on Saturday October 3rd versus Concordia-St. Paul.
