Men's ResultsMadison, S.D. – The Northern State University men's and women's cross country ran in the Herb Blakely Invite hosted by Dakota State Saturday. The NSU women took second overall, as the men finished fourth.
Tanner Peltier was the top finisher for the men, and
Dakotah Bullen finished first overall for the women.
Bullen tallied her first race win of the season with a time of 18:28. Dakotah shot to the front to lead every step of the way en route to a dominating victory by 27 seconds over Dordt Senior Kayla Byl. Her time of 18:28 was the fifth fastest time ever in the meet's 13 year history. Arnold, Gast and Larson packed up to earn top ten podium finishes, with freshmen
Hanna Wahl just behind in 15
th. The Lady Wolves would finish second to Dordt by 15 points, and out-distance third place Mount Marty by 52 points.
Tanner finished 20
th overall for the NSU men with a time of 27:46. Peltier ran a smart race in his first ever 8,000m distance, staying in control early with teammates
Clay Danielson and
Thomas Horgeshimer before slowly picking through the crowd on his way to a top 20 finish in 27:46. The Wolves packed it in tightly after that, with freshmen
Nathan Patterson and red shirt freshmen
Ben Jack joining Peltier, Horgeshimer, and Danielson to all finish within 40 seconds of each other.
NSU cross country will be back in action in two weeks from the competitive Roy Griak Invitational. The women are schedule to begin at 9:50 a.m. and the men at 11:30 a.m. from St. Paul, Minn. on September 26. The Wolves will also host the annual Gypsy Days Steps for Shep race beginning at 8 a.m. from the Barnett Center.
