Aberdeen, S.D. – It was a day for the record books, as the Northern State University softball team spilt with No. 19 Winona State University. The Wolves dropped game one with a score of 3-9, before coming back to take game two 1-0 in eight innings of play.

Game One
The Wolves scored first in the bottom of one, as
Kalie Maiden started the NSU rally with a single to the shortstop.
Eryn Yancy plated Maiden on a double to left center field in the next at-bat. Yancy came around to score later in the inning, off a
Katelynn Dilts single to left.
Winona State answered back in the top of the sixth inning with nine runs off seven hits and two NSU errors. The Northern defense was pressured with 13 of the 15 at-bats being balls put in play. NSU came back with their third run of the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Kelsey Gale connected for one out double to right center. She came around to score, as
Kalie Maiden double down the left field line in the next at-bat.
Game Two
Missy Elkins led the Wolves in game two with a shut-out victory over the Warriors. The shut-out marks Missy's ninth win and fourth shut-out of the season, giving up only five hits and striking out six. Elkins threw eight innings for NSU, giving the Wolves their third extra inning victory of the season.
Kalie Maiden led off the bottom of the eighth for the Wolves with a walk.
Eryn Yancy then singled up the middle, advancing Maiden to second on the play.
Macey Engel sacrificed the pair to second and third, to put the Wolves in scoring position. With
Brittney Lash at the plate, WSU relief pitcher Ashley Walker threw a wild pitch and
Kalie Maiden made her way towards home. The junior slide in just before the tag, scoring the first run of the game and securing the win for the Wolves.
Maiden and Yancy led the team with two hits apiece in the win.
Northern will return to Moccasin Creek tomorrow for Senior Day versus the Upper Iowa Peacocks. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m. between the two teams.
