The NSU Baseball team (7-10,1-5 NSIC) dropped both games Saturday in Wayne, Nebraska. The scores were 10-2 and 10-7 in the nightcap vs Wayne State(10-8, 5-1 NSIC).
In Game 1,
Shawn Powers (0-4) took the loss. He went 5 innings and gave up 4 earned, with a walk and 2 strikeouts. The lone bright spot offensively in the game was Freshman
Lucas Lorenz. Lorenz hit a 2 RBI single in the sixth inning cutting Wayne State's lead to 8-2. The Wolves committed 4 errors in the game.
Game 2 the bats got going as they knocked out 16 hits in the loss.
Kassidy Gaines took his first loss of the season. Gaines went 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs, with 4 strikeouts. Four Wolves had 2 hits (Eric O' Bryan,
Kasey Gengler,
Robert Fahlin and
Riley Shintaffer) and
Lucas Lorenz went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
The Wolves will continue the series tomorrow with first pitch slated for noon.
