Live Video Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University men's basketball team will suit up against No. 6 Augustana College in Monday's NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament. The semifinal is set to begin at 8 p.m. from the Sanford Pentagon.
The Wolves enter the semifinal round, after a 68-57 victory over Concordia-St. Paul. Senior
Seth Bachand led NSU in the game with 17 points, nine rebounds, and a career high matching five blocks. Bachand was one of four players in double-digits, as
DJ Pollard and
Skye Warwick each tallied ten in the game.
Mitch White matched Seth, with nine rebounds and added six points. NSU scored 43 points in the second, to Concordia's 29 led by
Tydan Storrusten with 11. Storrusten tallied 13 points in the game, while adding two rebounds, two assists, and one steal. The win marks Northern's ninth comeback victory of the season. NSU is also 3-0 in neutral site games this season. The Wolves have shot 40 percent or better in their last eight games, going 5-3 in those match-ups and are 19-3 at that mark on the year.
About AugustanaThe Vikings passed Minnesota Duluth, 71-62, on their way to a semifinal match-up with the Wolves. Casey Schilling led Augie with 30 points and 15 rebounds, while Daniel Jansen and Jordan Spencer tallied 17 points and ten points respectively. Augie boasts a wealth of talent in the NSIC Player of the Year (Jansen), NSIC Defensive Player of the Year (Schilling), and NSIC Freshmen of the Year (Spencer).
Earlier this Season Northern fell to Augustana 87-98 in the NSIC regular season. Jansen led the way for the Vikings with 35 points and six rebounds.
Tydan Storrusten and
Spencer Pankonin tallied 18 and 17 points respectively in the loss. The Wolves out-shot the Vikings 57-51 percent in the game, however gave up 15 points off turnovers and 12 three-point baskets in the game.
