Men's Basketball Makes it a Wolves Sweep over Crookston

Crookston, Minn. – The Northern State University men's basketball team bounced back after a tough weekend at home, with a 64-54 victory over Minnesota Crookston on the road. The NSU men improve to 20-7 overall and 14-7 in the conference.
 
Seth Bachand led the Wolves with 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in the win. Bachand's 19 points brings his career total to 986 points, just 14 shy of entering the 1,000 points club. Seth went 8-of-14 from the floor, bringing his season field goal percentage to a team leading 61.6. DJ Pollard and Darin Peterka added 12 and 11 points respectively, while Pollard led the team with three blocks in the game.
 
The Wolves tallied six made three-pointers in the game, all of which came in the first half of play. Mitch White and Skye Warwick accounted for two a piece with Pollard and Mack Arvidson each tallied one. White scored six points, while adding five rebounds and two assists. Warwick recorded eight points and Arvidson three. Tydan Storrusten was the final point score for NSU, tallying five points, along with one assist, two steals and a rebound.
 
Northern gave up only seven turnovers in the game, and held the Golden Eagles to 23.8 percent from the arch. The Wolves enter the second half of play up 32-27, on the home squad. Minnesota Crookston answered back in the second half. The two teams battled for the lead throughout the 20 minutes of play, with Northern taking the largest lead of 11 points with under a minute remaining.
 
As a team, the Wolves shot 46.0 percent from the floor and 70.6 percentage from the foul line. The Golden Eagles edged out NSU in rebounds with 34 to Northern's 32 in the game. The Wolves however recorded 28 points in the paint and forced nine BSU turnovers.
 
The NSU men will travel to Bemidji State University tomorrow for a 6 p.m. match-up with the Beavers.
