Men's Basketball Unable to Hold on to First Half Lead

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University men's basketball fell to Minnesota Duluth 63-67 in Saturday NSIC action.  The Wolves drop to 19-7 overall and 13-7 in Northern Sun Conference play.
 
Skye Warwick led the Wolves with 13 points, two assists, one rebound, and one steal in the game. Tydan Storrusten and Seth Bachand recorded 11 and ten points respectively. Bachand notched eight rebounds and three assists, while Storrusten tallied seven rebounds and two assists in the game. Mitch White led the Wolves with nine rebounds and two assists. DJ Pollard recorded six points, three blocks, and one assists for the Wolves. 
 
NSU led 29-15 at the half, connecting for 13 made field goals and holding Minnesota Duluth to 25-of-55 from the floor. The Bulldogs fought back in the second, coming back from a 15 point deficit just minutes in. UMD took the lead mid-way through the half and NSU was unable to regain it, tying the Bulldogs on two occasions.
 
The Wolves combined for 23 points off the bench, led by Justin Decker and Spencer Pankonin with eight points apiece. Mack Arvidson and Darin Peterka connected for four and three points respectively for NSU. Peterka tallied five rebounds, three assists, and one block.
 
Northern both out-shot and out-rebounded Minnesota Duluth in the game however came up short from the arch. The Bulldogs tallied four more three-point baskets, for 12 total points making the difference in the game. As a team the Wolves shot 46.3 percent from the floor and pulled down 36 rebounds.
 
The NSU will travel to Minnesota Crookston next Friday for an 8 p.m. match-up with the Golden Eagles. The Wolves will then visit Bemidji State for a 6 p.m., Saturday, contest with the Beavers.
