Wolves Fall to No. 4 Dragons in 2015 Finale

Aberdeen, S.D. – In their final game of 2015, the Northern State University men's basketball team fell to No. 4 MSU Moorhead 82-71. The Wolves drop to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in NSIC action, while the Dragons move to 13-1 overall and remain unbeaten in the league.
 
Darin Peterka led the Wolves for the third straight game with 16 points, four assists, and three steals. Peterka added seven rebounds and shot 50.0 percent from the floor. Skye Warwick and Carter Evans tallied a team second best 12 points apiece, and Evans led the team with nine boards. Mack Arvidson was the final Wolf in double-digits with 11 points in the game.
 
Northern led 39-33 at the half, however let the lead slip away mid-way through the second. The Dragons came back with 49 points in the final 20 minutes and shot 50.0 percent from the floor, while holding NSU to 32 points and a 29.4 field goal percentage. Tanner Kretchman propelled MSUM with 16 points in the half.
 
The Wolves shot 38.5 percent from field goal range and 39.3 percent from the arch in the game. Arvidson led the NSU bench which tallied 23 points. Offensive boards were huge in the game, as the Dragons came up with 17 points off 12 rebounds, to Northern's six points off 12 rebounds. NSU forced two more turnovers than given up, and recorded ten points off Dragon mishaps.
 
Spencer Pankonin added eight points off the bench, while Bo Fries, Michael Schreiber, and DJ Pollard each tallied four. Ian Smith was second on the team with two steals, and added one assist. Schreiber notched six rebounds, and Pollard added three assists.
 
Next up for the Wolves are a pair of New Year's battles with Winona State and Upper Iowa on January 2nd and 3rd. NSU will face the Warriors at 6 p.m. on the 2nd, and travel to take on the Peacocks at 4 p.m. on the third.
