Photo GalleryLincoln, Neb. – The Northern State University men's basketball team fell to Nebraska 95-42 in exhibition play. Northern will now open the 2015-16 regular season this Friday and Saturday at the Arkansas Tech Classic.
The Wolves matched up against a much bigger a quicker Cornhusker squad that shot 51.5 percent from the floor and tallied four players in double-digit scoring. A total of 13 Wolves saw the floor, including freshmen
Logan LeGrand,
Brayden McNeary, and
Braxton Elliott in their first appearances of 2015.
The two teams entered the lockers after one half of play with the Huskers up 43-21. Northern out-scored Nebraska 6-3 in the final five minutes of play.
Skye Warwick led the team with six points in the first 20 minutes, while
Spencer Pankonin,
Darin Peterka, and
Carter Evans each tallied three rebounds. The Wolves tallied eight offensive boards to the Huskers six in the half, and 19 rebounds total. Nine Wolves scored in the half.
Justin Decker led the Wolves in the second half with seven points, finishing the day with a team leading nine.
Darin Peterka tallied four rebounds and assists in the final 20 minutes of play and led NSU with seven and four in the game. NSU shot 22.2 percent in the loss, in large part to an improved second half appearance.

Mack Arvidson, and
Michael Schreiber each tallied four points in the game, while
Skye Warwick was second on the team with six. Also scoring was
Spencer Pankonin and
Bo Fries with two points apiece.
DJ Pollard tallied three points to round out the team total.The Wolves shot 13-of-19 from the free-throw line led by Decker with seven on the night. Warwick and Arvidson shot 3-of-3 and 2-of-2 respectively from the foul line.
Northern will kick-off the regular season Friday at 5:30 p.m. versus Arkansas Tech, and then face Harding at 5 p.m. on Saturday from Russellville. The Wolves open the home schedule for a trio of games November 27, 28 and 30 versus Presentation, Chadron State, and Jamestown.
