Warwick Career High Not Enough as Wolves Fall to Wonder Boys

Russellville, Ark. – In the opening game of 2015-16, the Northern State University men's basketball dropped a last second contest to Arkansas Tech 81-80. The Wolves drop to 0-1 on the year and will face Harding University tomorrow.
 
Skye Warwick led the team with a career high 24 points in the game. Warwick shot 50 percent from the floor and 6-of-14 from the arch. Skye scored just five points in the first half of play and tallied a game leading 19 in the second. The senior was followed by DJ Pollard with 18 points and a team leading five assists and six rebounds. Starters Spencer Pankonin and Darin Peterka added 12 and 11 points respectively, while Justin Decker added eight.
 
Northern shot 48.3 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from the arch in the game. The Wolves 13 turnovers resulted in 17 Wonder Boy points and made the difference in the game. NSU scored 40 points in each half, however were unable to fend off the ATU attack with 46 point in the second half. The Wolves tallied 28 points in the paint and 11 second chances buckets off nine offensive boards, however were out-rebounded 29-41.
 
Northern scored seven points off the bench by Michael Schreiber and Mack Arvidson with four and three respectively. Darin Peterka led the team with three steals and five assists. Peterka also led the team with four offensive boards.
 
Northern will be back in action tomorrow from the Arkansas Tech Classic in a 5 p.m. match-up with Harding University.
