Career Highs Propel Wolves in Victory over Jimmies

Aberdeen, S.D. – In their final non-conference game of the regular season, the Northern State University men's basketball team defeated Jamestown 87-82. The Wolves improve to 4-3 overall and recorded multiple career highs across the board.
 
Mack Arvidson led the team with a career high 23 points. Arvidson added three assists, one block, and three rebounds in the win. Ian Smith and Carter Evans followed with 17 points apiece; a career high for Smith as well. The duo led the team with nine [Evans] and eight [Smith] rebounds.
 
The two teams battled in what proved to be a very physical contest with 48 total fouls called. Northern led 35-32 at the half, and out-scored the Jimmies 52-50 in the final 20 minutes of play. UJ fought back from a 13 point deficit with five minutes remaining in regulation, however was only able to cut the NSU lead to five.
 
Skye Warwick notched a career high eight assists, serving up his teammates in crucial situations. The senior added seven points, two rebounds, and one steal on the night. DJ Pollard also notched seven points, while Bo Fries and Darin Peterka came in with six each. Arvidson and Smith led the team with ten free-throw attempts, shooting 70.0 and 90.0 percent from the foul line respectively.
 
As a unit the Wolves shot 52.8 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent from the arch, and 68.6 percent from the foul line. The Jimmies just edged out the Wolves in rebounds at 37-36, however Northern tallied a season high 47 points off the bench.  
 
Evans led the team in field goal percentage with an 80.0 mark, followed by Mack Arvidson shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. A total of seven Wolves recorded multiple rebounds in the win, while Pollard led the team with two steals. Arvidson and Pollard were second behind Warwick with three assists each.
 
Northern will be on the road this weekend in their first Friday/Saturday of NSIC action. The Wolves will take on the Marauders at 8 p.m. on Friday; and then travel to Minot State for a 6 p.m. match-up on Saturday.
