Colorado Springs, Colo.- The Northern State University women's basketball team recorded a 75-53 victory tonight over Metro State University in their first game of the Colorado Springs Tournament. Playing four consecutive non-conference games, the Wolves are now 3-1 on the season. Metro State falls to 0-3 overall early in the 2015-16 season.
Shining offensively once again for NSU was sophomore
Jill Conrad, as she tallied a team high 23 points in the contest. Conrad now averages 20.0 points per game for the Wolves. Making her third career start for Northern State,
Gabby Laimer also put up double digit points with 18 total, shooting 66.7 percent from three point range.
Northern State created scoring opportunities off of a season high 18 team assists. The team shot 53.3 percent from the arch and had 26 second change points. NSU nabbed 42 total rebounds, as
Lauren Deadrick and
Miranda Ristau picked up nearly half with 10 rebounds each.
Metro State notched 20 of their 54 total field goal attempts, but it was not enough to overcome NSU's 50.0 field goal percentage.
The Wolves will return to action from the Colorado Springs Tournament tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. to face the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.Â
