Aberdeen, S.D.- The NSU women's basketball team will travel to take on Black Hills State University from the Donald E. Young Center at 7 p.m. tomorrow night. This will be the third consecutive non-conference game for the Wolves in opening the 2015-16 season.
The team went 1-1 in the Wayne State Classic this past weekend, defeating William Jewell College 69-37, and falling to Lindenwood University 60-77.
In the spotlight early this season has been both Northern seniors,
Devon Brecke and
Lauren Deadrick. Brecke has averaged eight points per game and picked up six assists, while Deadrick has averaged 14 points per game and has recorded three of the team's seven blocks.
Starters,
Alexis Tappe and
Jill Conrad have also contributed to some impressive team totals. Tappe has put up 16 points for the Wolves in their two games and is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore
Jill Conrad has been an offensive threat for the Wolves by averaging 12.5 points per and shooting 61.1% from field goal range.
About Black Hills State University The Yellow Jackets currently hold an overall record of 2-0, defeating Presentation College 69-47 and Johnson & Wales (CO) 84-76. BHSU compiled a record of 15-12 in the 2014-15 season. In their last two games, leading in scoring for Black Hills State has been both Baily Kusser and Jennie Scharn, averaging 13.0 points per game each. Scharn has also picked up 14 total rebounds, while Taylor Trohkimoinen has recorded 10 assists in the two games. The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Mark Nore as he enters his 14th season with the program. Nore has tallied a career record of 232- 149, recording the most wins all-time in Black Hills State history.
