Wayne, Neb.- The Northern State women's basketball team recorded their first loss of the 2015-16 season, falling to Lindenwood University 77-60. The Wolves are now 1-1 on the year, as the Lady Lions improve to 1-1 overall as well.
Northern outscored Lindenwood in every quarter, except in the second where the Lady Lions accumulated 32 points to the Wolves' five. NSU put up a fight in the last two quarters, but were unable to come away with the victory.
Leading the way offensively for Northern State was
Lauren Deadrick with 18 points, followed by
Jill Conrad with 15 total points.
Bethany Crosswait and
Miranda Ristau each collected six points in the matchup. Senior
Devon Brecke created scoring opportunities by adding four assists.
As a team, the Wolves picked up eight team steals, blocked three shots, and came away with 37 total rebounds.
Lindenwood had five different players scoring in double digits, and had a 51.7 shooting percentage compared to Northern State's 42.6 field goal percentage in the contest. The Lady Lions finished out the day shooting 50.0 percent from three point range.
Northern State women's basketball will travel to Spearfish, S.D. on Wednesday to take on Black Hills State at 7 p.m..
