St. Cloud, Minn. – The No. 3 Northern State University volleyball team knocked off St. Cloud State 3-0 on the road. The Wolves improve to 25-2 overall and 17-2 in the NSIC. With one game remaining in the regular season, NSU remains in a three way tie for first with Southwest Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul. The Mustangs and Golden Bears will face-off tomorrow from St. Paul.
NSU defeated St. Cloud with set scores of 25-20, 25-13, and 25-18.
Cari McGarvie led the team with 14 kills and hit .591 with only one attack error. McGarvie also added a team leading three blocks.
Kelsey Chambers followed with 13 kills and a .462 attack percentage. Chambers added ten digs for her 12
th double-double of the season. The pair combined for 27 of the team's 42 kills in the match.
Senior setter and NSIC Player of the Year
Drew Smith paced the team to a .347 attack percentage with 37 total assists. Smith tallied seven digs and added two service aces.
Renee Hoffman led the NSU defense with 15 digs, averaging 5.0 per set.
Northern held the Huskies to a .155 attack percentage in the match with 39 kills and 21 attack errors. The Wolves recorded only seven attack errors ad hit .417 in the second set.
Mandy Kurosky and
Kellie Schmit added eight and five kills respectively, while Kurosky notched six digs.
Amanda Tobin and
Annika van Oosbree combined for seven digs.
The Wolves will be back in action tomorrow versus No. 9 Minnesota Duluth. The two teams will face off at 4 p.m. in the NSIC regular season finale. Northern took the late September match-up 3-0 from Wachs Arena.
