Listen LiveAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team will celebrate senior day this Saturday in the final game of the regular season. The Wolves will kick off against Bemidji State at 1 p.m. from Swisher Field. Youth wearing a sports jersey will be admitted free to Saturday's contest.
The Wolves enter the game 6-0 in the NSIC North and 6-4 overall. The Northern defense has been solid in the final games of the season led by
Devin Olson,
Taylor Zemlicka, and
Channing Barber with 79, 67, and 61 tackles respectively this season. Defensive back
Channing Barber earned Qdoba Athlete of the Week and NSIC POW honors for his play against the Huskies. Barber tallied ten tackles, five solo and five assisted in the Wolves 31-24 victory over SCSU. He also added one interception and five pass break-ups. The junior's interception came from within the Wolves end zone on the Huskies first drive of the game, to hold SCSU scoreless. Barber and the NSU defense held the Huskies scoreless in the fourth quarter, and the offense mounted a comeback to take the lead. NSU football now holds a share of the NSIC North Division Title.
Kyle Lavand had a solid day for the Wolves versus the Huskies with 282 yards passing and four touchdowns.
About the Beavers• Bemidji State enters the game 6-4 in the league and 5-1 in the NSIC North, with their lone loss coming against Minnesota Duluth.
• The Beavers are led by head coach Jeff Tesch in his 20th year with the program.
• Kaleb Olszewski leads the team with six interceptions this season, and is second on the team with 77 tackles.
• Jordan Hein paces the offense averaging 204.4 yards passing and 53.6 yards rushing per game.

Zachery Barber each recorded one.

Channing Barber (NSU), Dre Person (UMC), and Alden Haffar (MSU) have been named the NSIC Defensive, Offensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week.
• Minnesota State Mankato is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Super Region Three, followed by No. 5 Augustana, No. 7 Sioux Falls, and No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State.
• The NSIC has two teams in the AFCA Top-25: No. 6 Minnesota State and No. 17 Sioux Falls. Augustana is also receiving votes.
