Aberdeen, S.D.- Wolves soccer fell to Concordia University-St. Paul this afternoon by a score of 2-1. Northern State's overall record drops to 4-4-1 and 2-3-1 in the NSIC, while Concordia advances to 4-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in conference play.
The Golden Bears came out aggressive in the first period putting pressure on the Wolves defense by taking seven shots, four of which on target. After a scoreless first half, Concordia came back to connect for the first goal of the game off of a penalty kick in the 52
nd minute. Just a minute later, forward Chelsie Lindsay of the Golden Bears shot over goalkeeper,
Brittany Tietz, for a second goal to increase the score to 2-0 in favor of Concordia-St. Paul.
With the momentum shifting, Northern State looked to answer back as they accumulated ten of their eleven total shots in the second period. In the 83
rd minute,
Kay Hernandez connected for her first goal of the season into the opposite corner of the net.
Anna Bondy recorded the assist on the play.
Concordia-St. Paul ended with 13 shots and Northern State finished with 11 total shots in the match. The Wolves had eight different players take shots;
Alison Byrd,
Allie Macdonald, and
Darian Leschewski with two a piece. Goalkeeper
Brittany Tietz faced two corner kicks and notched five saves against the Golden Bears.
The Wolves return to action tomorrow from Jerde Field at 1 p.m. to face the No. 13 Minnesota State Mavericks.
