Photo GalleryAberdeen, S.D. – The No. 2 Northern State University volleyball team came away with a hard fought five set victory over MSU Moorhead in mid-week NSIC action. With the win, the Wolves improve to 20-0 overall and 12-0 in league action, while the Dragons fall 12-8 on the year and 5-7 in the conference.
The Wolves hit just over .200 in the match tallying 69 kills in total.

Kelsey Chambers and
Mandy Kurosky each notched 16 kills in the victory, while
Kellie Schmit tallied 12. Schmit led the team hitting .368, followed by McGarvie with a .303 mark. Schmit also led the team with six blocks.
Drew Smith paced the team with a season high 66 assists. The senior added six digs, two blocks, and two service aces, while averaging 13.2 assists per set.
Northern opened the match with set score victories of 25-19 and 25-18 before dropping set three 25-18 and a barn burner set four 31-29. NSU fought back in the fifth and final set to hit .409 as a unit with no hitting errors. McGarvie, Chambers, and Schmit teamed up for the team's nine kills in the fifth and final set, as McGarvie tallied the game winner.
Renee Hoffman led the NSU defense with a season high 27 digs, while fellow senior
Kelsey Chambers tallied a double-double with 17. Hoffman averaged 5.4 digs per set, and added one ace and two assists. Also in double-digits were defensive specialists
Amanda Tobin with 13 and
Annika van Oosbree with 12. Each of the nine Wolves that appeared in the game recorded a dig, as the team totaled a season high 98.
The Dragons fought hard led by Carly Masloski with 24 kills. As a team MSUM hit .185 with 30 total attack errors. Their defense held them in the match with some key pickups in each of the five sets. The ladies combined for 102 digs and ten total blocks.
The Wolves are on the road this weekend versus Sioux Falls and No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State. Northern will face off with the Cougars, Friday at 7 p.m., and then travel for a 3 p.m., match-up with the Mustangs on Saturday.
