Listen LiveAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team will take on Minnesota, Crookston tomorrow at 1 p.m. in week three of NSIC Divisional play. The 2-4 Wolves and 0-6 Golden Eagles will face off from Crookston.
Northern enters the weekend on a two game NSIC North win streak, with victories over Minot State (45-14) and MSU Moorhead (48-26). The NSU offense broke through with 41 points in the second half of play, led by
Nicholas Truen with two touchdowns. He averaged 8.3 yards per carry and was second on the team to quarterback
Kyle Lavand with 184 yards of total offense. Lavand led the team with 240 yards of total offense, and three passing touchdowns.
Zachery Barber's touchdown grab over the defenders, and
Tyrell Anderson's reversal score landed on DB's picks of the week for the Northern Sun Experience show. The Wolves continue to return injured players from earlier this season, and have found themselves a bit more comfortable offensively in the last two outings.
About the Golden Eagles• Minnesota, Crookston enters the match-up 0-6 in 2015, as they have been out-scored by their opponents 314-64.
• UMC utilizes both quarterbacks, Hearns and Cole, throughout the game. Cole leads the team with 699 yards, averaging 139.8 per game.
• Head Coach Mike Fritze is in his third season with the program.
