Minot, N.D. – The no. 6 Northern State University women's basketball team increased their win streak to four with a 66-47 victory over Minot State University. The Wolves improve to 14-1 overall and 8-1 in the NSIC. The 19 point victory is the marks Northern's 13
th double-digit victory this season.
Sadie Stotesbery led the Northern offense with a season high 19 points and 11 rebounds, for her first double-double of the season. Stotesbery was 9-for-15 from the floor, leading the Wolves to a 43.9 percent mark as a team.
Rachel Krogman followed Stotesbery with a double-double of her own, adding 16 points and 11 rebounds. Krogman added three blocks in the contest, as she was 6-for-11 from the floor.
Paige Waytashek was the final NSU starter in double-digit scoring with ten points in the win. Waytashek, who leads the team in free-throw percentage at 85.2 percentage, went 5-for-6 from the line.
Devon Brecke and
Kara Hofschild notched six points apiece while,
Megan Mutchler tallied four. Coming off the bench,
Sami Smith and
Lauren Deadrick recorded three and two points respectively in the win.
Bethany Crosswait led the team with three assists in the match-up, spending ten minutes on the floor. Hofschild matched Crosswait's total of three assists alongside one block in the game.
The Wolves held Beaver forward, Christina Boag to nine points and five rebounds in the game. Heading into the weekend, Boag averaged 11.5 points per game. Minot State shot 30.0 percent from the floor, and was unable to connect for a three point basket in the game.
Northern's 30 points in the paint and 42 rebounds, to the Beavers 33, were enough the secure the victory in the game. The Wolves scored ten second chance points off of 12 offensive rebounds. NSU continued to play full team basketball with 12 assists and six steals in the contest, while giving up only nine turnovers.
The women will be back in action tomorrow from Bismarck, taking on the Marauders of U-Mary. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. between the two squads. The Marauders enter the game with a 69-64 victory over MSU Moorhead.
