The Northern State men's basketball team forced 22 Bemidji State turnovers and scored 36 points off of those miscues, on the way to an 81-62 win Friday night inside Wachs Arena. For the game, Northern committed just six turnovers. The Win moves the Wolves to 16-3 overall and 10-3 in the NSIC.
Skye Warwick scored a game-high 17 points to lead NSU in the victory. Warwick went 5-of-9 from the floor and hit 3-of-6 shots from three-point range.
Seth Bachand added 14 points and three assists while
Tydan Storrusten chipped in with 13 points and also had a career-best six steals in the contest.
Mitch White had a solid all-around game for the Wolves, scoring 10 points, grabbing eight boards, dishing-out four assists and recording a block and a steal in the win.
Bemidji (7-10, 3-10 NSIC) shot the ball better than the Wolves Friday, going 21-of-43 (48.8 percent) from the floor and hitting 10-of-20 three pointers. Northern got 25 more shots however in the game, going 32-of-68 (47 percent) from the field and making 8-of-20 (40 percent) from beyond the arc. The Wolves out-rebounds BSU 35-33 as Northern recorded 15 offensive rebounds and had a 14-7 edge in second-chance points. The Wolves had a big edge inside as well, outscoring the Beavers 44-14 in the paint.
Northern controlled the entire game, trailing just once, 8-6 with 16:55 to go in the first half. From there, the Wolves built as much as a 14-point lead in the half and went into the break with a 42-33 lead. In the second stanza, Northern outscored Bemidji 28-12 the first part of the second half and held a 25-point lead, 70-45 with 9:37 left to play in the contest. The Beavers could only get as close as 17 points the rest of the game.
The Wolves return to action Saturday as they host Minnesota, Crookston in a 7 p.m. contest from Wachs Arena.
