Live VideoAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University soccer team heads into its second weekend of home NSIC play this Saturday and Sunday. After securing their first conference win of the season against MSU Moorhead the Wolves are slated to match-up against St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth. Game times are set for 1 p.m. each day from Jerde Field.
Allie Macdonald was an offensive threat for the Wolves in week one as she came away with eight shots, three shots on goal, and her first goal of the year.
Anna Bondy continued to play well for NSU taking six shots of her own and garnering the assist in the Macdonald score. Wolves' keeper,
Brittany Tietz, notched her first shut-out of the 2014 season, racking up four saves in the process. As a team the Wolves took a season high 23 shots, seven of which were on goal. Northern is currently 2-2 on the year and 1-0 in NSIC play.
About St. Cloud State The Huskies began the 2014 season under new head coach Gretta Arvesen. SCSU was picked to finish 11
th in the coaches poll after going 10-7-1 overall and 7-7-1 in conference play in 2013. St. Cloud returns fourteen from a season ago including top point producers Taige Thoreson, Naomi Kolhoff, Michelle Cornell and Kara Espinosa and goal keeper Brittany Plombon. The Huskies fell to Minnesota Duluth 0-3 in their NSIC opener at home.
Last Season Northern State took the 2013 contest with a score of 1-0. The Wolves lone goal came from then sophomore
Anna Woern.

Brittany Tietz came up big with 11 saves in the game.
About Minnesota Duluth The Bulldogs entered the 2014 season ranked No. 8 in the nation, returning nine of 11 starters from a season ago. Senior Maureen Stormont was nabbed the NSIC Preseason Player of the year, after leading the conference with 43 points and 18 goals in 2013. UMD hit a bit of the bump to begin the season going 0-3 against non-conference opponents. The now un-ranked Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 win over the visiting Huskies of St. Cloud State.
Last Season The Bulldogs topped the Wolves in 2013 with a score of 2-1.
Bobbye Pendleton scored the Wolves goal in the game, assisted by
Khachirha Tugas. Dani Potter tallied both scores for UMD in the victory. Tietz notched four saves in the loss playing all 90 minutes for the Wolves.
