NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• After a 6-9-4 (6-5-4 NSIC) record last season, the Wolves look to start the season off strong, hosting back-to-back home matches against Missouri foes
• A season ago, the Wolves got off to a rough start, going 0-3 in their nonconference matches and 0-6-1 in their first seven games before losing to Bemidji State in the first round of the conference tournament
• Northern State returns both Chloe Voss and Jaylee Hofer up front, NSU's leaders in shots (Voss), goals (Voss), assists (Hofer) and points (Hofer) from the 2025 season
• Lauren Youngquist makes her return to the pitch as well for her senior season, tallying over 1,600 minutes of action last season while earning NSIC All-Conference Second Team honors with Voss
• In the 2026 NSIC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, Northern State was picked seventh in the conference, earning 142 points overall
• At the helm is Bob Casper, entering his sixth season as the head coach for NSU's women's soccer team

NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE STORYLINES

• After their 3-0 victory over the Wolves a season ago, the Bearcats finished the 2025 season with a record of 10-6-2
• NWMSU was picked sixth in the MIAA preseason poll, gathering 92 points
• Senior Makenna West returns to the field after leading the Bearcats in goals (seven), shots (42) and shots on goal (19) last season
• Marc Gordon is in his ninth year as the head coach for the Bearcats, generating a 59-54-21 record with the program and earning MIAA Coach of the Year in 2021

WOLVES AND BEARCATS HISTORY

• Northern State holds a 4-2 advantage over Northwest Missouri State, earning wins in their first four meetings

WESTERN MISSOURI STATE STORYLINES

• After a successful season last year, securing 12 wins and just three losses and a conference championship, the Griffons will open up their season against fellow NSIC team Bemidji State before heading down to play the Wolves on Sunday
• Ahead of the 2026 season, MoWest was picked fourth in the MIAA preseason poll, tallying 108 points
• Though returning four all-conference athletes for the 2026 season, the Griffons roster looks almost new, taking on 18 new players, including 14 freshmen
• Kendall Kinsley returns for the 2026 season after an 18-goal and 13-assist year a season ago
• In his fourth season with the team, Jacob Plocher has accumulated a 33-14-16 record with the Griffons
