Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team dropped a pair of conference games on the road at Minot State University. The 0-8 and 4-6 losses moved the Wolves to 8-20 overall and 1-11 in the league.
Game One Northern compiled five hits in the game, however were unable to notch a run.
Macey Engel led the Wolves attack with a single and a double to the left side. The other three NSU hits came off the bats of
Rachel Albright,
Eryn Yancy and
Lindsey Hubler.
Starter
Kami Smesmo recorded the loss in the game giving up nine hits and striking out four Beaver batters.
Game Two Engel added to her stellar day in game two going 3-4 from the plate, while crushing her second home run of the season to left center. Macey notched two singles, two runs scored and two RBI in the loss.
Lindsey Hubler connected for her second home run of the season with a long ball to left center in the top of the fifth. Hubler added two RBI in the inning, as well as a single in her first at bat.
Eryn Yancy and
Rachel Albright notched the other two NSU hits in the 4-6 loss. Starter
Missy Elkins gave up five earned runs, while striking out three in six innings of work.
Northern will continue road play as they travel to Winona State and Upper Iowa this Saturday and Sunday.
